SafetyConnect, a construction risk engineering platform built specifically for the construction industry, announced the successful expansion of its program with CM & Associates (CMA), a construction management firm with more than 20 years of industry experience. After launching at a single project site in late 2024, the platform demonstrated immediate operational benefits, leading CMA to implement SafetyConnect across its entire portfolio within less than a month.
Designed to help construction teams reduce conditions and behaviors that may lead to hazards while supporting productivity and workforce coordination, SafetyConnect combines Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and New York City Department of Buildings (DOB) guidance, integrated training access, workforce management tools, access control capabilities, project control integrations, and other operational features into a unified system for construction jobsites.
“We built SafetyConnect to be the tool I wish I had when I was coming up as a Foreman then Site Safety Manager,” said William Colon, founder and owner of SafetyConnect. “Seeing the platform move from concept to daily operations on active construction sites – and then rapidly expand across an entire portfolio – has validated our vision for transforming how construction safety is managed.”
“SafetyConnect has streamlined many of our day-to-day safety and workforce management processes while giving our teams greater visibility into jobsite operations. Information that previously required two to four hours of searching through binders, spreadsheets, handwritten pre-task safety plans, emails, and paper records can now be accessed in approximately five minutes. Instead of deciphering illegible handwriting, verifying outdated documents, or chasing missing paperwork, our authorized personnel have immediate access to accurate, time-stamped, and verified records,” said George B. Mihalis, Senior Project Executive at CM & Associates. “This has significantly reduced administrative burden, improved operational visibility, accelerated decision-making, and allowed our superintendents to spend more time managing projects rather than managing paperwork. Moreover, it manages risk in a highly-efficient manner,” he added.
“The platform not only helps protect workers, it helps projects maintain productivity through verified access, training visibility, workforce coordination, and operational planning,” said Jeff Talavera, co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of SafetyConnect. “We prioritized safety without compromising production because construction companies shouldn’t have to choose between safety and productivity. Our design is unique in its ability to wrangle a multitude of tools in one user-friendly platform so the same operational workflows that improve safety also make projects run more efficiently.”
The platform is affordable and provides construction jobsites with a continuous, verifiable safety record by tracking credentials, training currency, gate access, near misses, audits, and workforce activity in real time rather than relying solely on periodic reporting. Every stakeholder, from workers and supervisors to general contractors and project owners, is connected to a record of action and responsibility, helping reinforce positive behaviors while enabling issues to be addressed before they become incidents.
SafetyConnect also embeds DOB and FDNY operational requirements directly into day-to-day workflows through pre-task planning, gate enforcement, training verification, and hazard escalation protocols. The result is a safety program that functions as part of daily operations rather than as a retrospective monthly reporting exercise.
Unlike traditional construction safety software, which primarily documents what has already occurred, SafetyConnect is designed as a proactive system that identifies and helps mitigate risk before incidents happen. The technology strengthens documentation integrity through authenticated workflows, verified worker activity, training validation, time-stamped actions, and tamper-resistant records that provide greater confidence for owners, contractors, insurers, and other risk stakeholders.
SafetyConnect’s mission is to create a more transparent and defensible operational environment that protects workers, supports legitimate claims, reduces opportunities for abuse, and enables construction teams to build more safely and efficiently.
SafetyConnect is available for both iOS and Android devices.
