GeoMe says the barrier for most customers isn’t the store, it’s getting out of the car. Curbside Pickup targets the rain, the parking, the kids and the flu.
FL, UNITED STATES, August 28, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — A parked car sits about ninety feet from a store’s front door. On a great many days, for a great many customers, those ninety feet are the entire transaction. Whether the sale happens has nothing to do with the price, the product or the service waiting inside.
GeoMe, the company behind the Curbside Pickup platform, says this is the part of retail that almost nobody measures. Businesses invest in the inside of the store. The decision that determines whether a customer ever sees it gets made in the driver’s seat, and often a block before that.
The reasons are ordinary and they repeat every day.
There is a two-year-old asleep in the back seat, and no parent alive is waking that child for a carton of milk. There are two kids in car seats, and unbuckling both, walking them across a lot and getting them back in again turns a four-dollar coffee into a twenty-minute operation. It is raining hard, or snowing, and the customer is dressed for the car and not for the walk. The customer is coming off a night shift, or straight from the gym, or wearing what people wear on a Sunday morning, and does not feel like being seen. They are three weeks out from surgery and can manage driving but not a parking lot. They have a cold and are too wiped out to walk in, or they feel fine enough to shop and would still rather not stand in a small store breathing on other people’s groceries.
And then there is parking, which stops more sales than any of them. A customer does not need the lot to actually be full. They only need to believe it will be. The decision to keep driving is made on the approach, on the basis of a guess, and the business never finds out it was made at all.
“Every one of those is a customer who wanted to buy something and didn’t,” said Rami Smair, Founder and CEO of GeoMe. “They don’t complain, because nothing went wrong. Nothing happened at all. That’s what makes it invisible. A business can have a great product, fair prices and staff who care, and still lose the sale to a sleeping kid and a full parking lot.”
Curbside Pickup is built for that stretch of ground. Customers order and pay in advance through an app or any mobile browser. Geofencing detects the car as it arrives and alerts staff automatically, so the handover starts without the customer doing anything. The order comes to the vehicle. Nobody unbuckles anybody, nobody gets rained on, and the sleeping child stays asleep.
The automatic detection is the part the company insists on. Systems that ask the customer to text on arrival are inefficient.
“There’s a version of this that’s just about convenience, and that’s fine, but it undersells it,” Smair said. “For a parent, it’s the difference between an errand being possible and not possible that day. For someone with the flu, it’s a genuinely contactless transaction, which matters to them and to everyone else in the store.
